Clinical Practice Facilitator

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our NICU for a highly knowledgeable and motivated individual to join our education team. We are the lead level 3 NICU for Surrey, and part of the Surrey, Sussex and Kent Neonatal Network, providing expert care for 28 of the sickest and most complex babies, using the most up to date ventilatory support techniques.
The role will require working in collaboration with our Clinical Practice Educators and the wider Trust Professional Development team, to provide education and training to all multidisciplinary staff. You will assist in the delivery of training programmes and work alongside staff in the nurseries, coaching individuals and teaching groups to deliver high standards of individualised care. You will recognise and escalate any concerns or skills gaps and work with the education team to resolve them.
Support and facilitate staff in clinical areas to identify opportunities for maintaining and improving standards of patient care.
- Support the ‘professional development’ of nursing and healthcare staff within the clinical setting.
- Support the Professional Development team in delivering clinical training to Trust staff as required.
- In liaison with the Clinical Practice Educator promote a quality service using research and evidence based practice including the setting, monitoring and auditing of clinical standards.
- Provide education and training to multidisciplinary team staff and assist in the delivery of training programmes for nurses to expand their skills.

Clinical
- To function as a practicing professional working directly alongside trained staff, students and support staff for at least 50% of the role participating in direct patient care in line with the NMC code.
- To plan and maximise opportunities to deliver work-based learning.
- As a member of the Professional Development Team support the review and development of the annual departmental education, training and development plans and ensure they remain relevant and contributory to the Directorate and Corporate plans.
- As a member of the Professional Development Team, develop, maintain and implement a competency based framework for all areas of clinical practice.
- To support the development and implementation of the Trust’s model of clinical supervision.
- To support Clinical Practice Educator, in developing and maintaining nursing learning environments that meeting the performance standards of external Quality Assurance bodies.
- To be a point of reference for support in managing issues/concerns raised by the clinical staff and the Education providers.
- Work closely with staff from the universities in relation to supporting the Students in practice and ensuring their learning outcomes are achievable and being met.
- To undertake assessment of the Student Nurses, preceptors and other trainees in practice as required.
- To participate in the co-ordination of external clinical placements with university and other educational providers
- To provide feedback to the Clinical Practice Educator regarding the student practice needs, issues/concerns

- As a member of the Professional Development Team lead and supervise the safe delivery of high standards of nursing practice and evidenced based care in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, the Trust’s Strategy for Nursing and the Trusts policies and procedures.
