An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the 0-19 Service at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust as a 0-19 Community Health Link Worker to provide an Interpreting Service within the Pakistan/Indian or Arab Communities. They will need to speak fluent Urdu.
The post holder will be a compassionate, accountable individual who treats all colleagues, patients and service users with respect and seeks to deliver excellence in their role. They will share the Trust values and be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.
The post holder will be a key member of the 0-19 Service, who provides Community Public Health delivery through the Healthy Child Programme, the post is within the Fantastic 0-19 Service, who effectively deliver the Health Child Programme to ensure that the children and young people in Sheffield reach their full potential safely.
The 0-19 Community Health Link Worker will be an excellent communicator, and have good interpersonal skills, have experience of working with children, young People and families, and able to function well as part of a Team, and wider Partners.

**The 0-19 Community Health Link Worker will be responsible for**:
Providing an interpreting service for 0-19 Teams in supporting the delivery of the 0-19 agenda within the Pakistan/Indian or Arab communities.
Providing support and advice to the Pakistan/Indian or Arab communities and to act as an advocate to promote their wellbeing within the remit of the Heathy Child programme & the Vaccination and Immunisation Programme.
This is a city wide post; whereby the post holder will be deployed wherever they are needed most. Diaries will be actively managed to ensure that requests for interpreters are accommodated where possible.

**The Main Duties/Responsibilities**:
To provide skilled and culturally sensitive interpreting for families within the service and support clients to access local services and facilities whilst working alongside members of the Health Visiting/School Nursing Locality Teams.
To undertake lone working under the direction of the Health Visitor/School Nurse and to discuss actions and interventions completed with the clients to ensure understanding e.g. attending appointments and reducing ‘Was not brought’.
To develop supportive relationships with clients in order to promote accessibility of services and treat all information to do with client and health information as confidential.
For workers to develop a rapport and acceptance within the Pakistan/Indian or Arabian communities and to foster quality relationships and to deal sensitively with clients using well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
Participate in health promotion activities with a view to building community capacity through community engagement activities e.g. smoke harm reduction and tackling childhood obesity.
And promote uptake of the Vaccination and Immunisation Programme.
