The Medical staffing rota coordinator is responsible for the day to day management of the Directorate’s medical staffing function. The postholder is also responsible for ensuring medical staffing meets required standards including BMA guidelines, Risk Management Standards, and NHS Employers guidance/standards and Trust Policie.

To liaise with Health Education East of England, HR, Postgraduate Education team and with the Service Unit Managers.

The Medical staffing rota coordinator is responsible for the day to day management of the Directorate’s medical staffing function. Primarily ensuring there is sufficient doctor cover for the paediatric ward and units. To monitor doctors absence and annual leave.

Assist the Service Unit Managers in managing the appointment of substantive medical staff, locum consultants, speciality doctors and other trust grades in liaison with the HR department.

Also managing the locum booking system and liaising with doctors bank.

1. Ensure advice on Medical and Dental terms and conditions, and best practice in managing medical staff is available. This may include advice to clinical directors, consultants or managers on a range of issues including, changes of terms and conditions and Medical Staffing rotas.
2. Work with the HR Department to ensure recruitment processes for medical staff is efficient and effective.
3. Contribute to medical workforce planning
4. Actively recruit doctors to work on zero hours locum contracts and ensure they are put through the pre-employment checks process in liaison with HR.
5. Contact trust doctors directly to fill rota vacancies.
6. Manage the locum booking process and liaise with Medics in accordance with the trust’s locum booking procedures.
7. Assist the Service Unit Managers in managing the appointment of substantive medical staff, locum consultants, speciality doctors and other trust grades in liaison with the HR department.
