We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Volunteer Coordinator to lead our volunteering offer. At the Churn Project, volunteers play a pivotal part in helping us deliver services, over 100 volunteers currently support our befriending, community engagement, groups, activities, fundraising and events. You will lead recruitment and management of the volunteer team, making sure that we offer our volunteers a rewarding, varied and enjoyable volunteering experience.

The role will suit someone with previous experience of managing volunteers and of delivering a volunteer strategy. You must have excellent written and interpersonal skills, and feel confident training, supporting, and empowering people.

The Churn Project is an independent charity working for the past 22 years in Cirencester and the surrounding villages. In 2021/22, we supported over 1300 people to reduce isolation and loneliness, improve wellbeing, learn new skills, and feel part of their community. Our vision is that all people should be included, involved and invested in their community, feel supported and valued and given the opportunity to achieve their potential.

**THE ROLE**

The Volunteer Coordinator will manage all aspects of volunteering within the Churn Project to ensure volunteers feel supported, valued, connected, and included.

You will respond to enquiries from potential volunteers and lead the recruitment of new volunteers by creating roles which are inclusive, interesting, and rewarding. You will lead and administer the volunteer recruitment and induction process, making sure role descriptions are up to date, potential volunteers are communicated with, and inductions, training and DBS checks completed.

You will provide support to ensure volunteers stay engaged and feel valued, including regular supervision, frequent communication, arranging social events and activities and offering support with training and development. You will update the CRM database, maintain accurate records and KPI reporting. There is plenty of room for you to grow and develop our volunteering offer, including short term volunteering and options for younger people, and you will be expected to be creative and proactive.

You should thrive in a collaborative working environment and enjoy engaging with people, partner agencies and others to ensure we continue to meet the needs of people in our community and deliver best practice in volunteer management.

**Volunteer management**
- Promote volunteering and advertise opportunities to attract high calibre volunteers.
- Generate appropriate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions based on the needs of the organisation.
- Adopt best practice in volunteer management.
- Process referrals and complete initial assessments
- Complete DBS checks and risk assessments
- Lead volunteer induction and training, including safeguarding, professional boundaries, role expectations and personal safety.
- Ongoing support and personal development of volunteers
- Maintain accurate, up to date records.
- Provide reporting and kpi’s as requested.
- Proactively research, explore and review the needs of volunteers locally.
- Keep new and existing volunteers informed about The Churn and volunteering opportunities.

**Partnership working**
- Work closely with the Fundraising Manager to support the Churn Champion fundraising volunteers.
- Maximise opportunities for local businesses to volunteer with us.

**Strategic**
- Work with the CEO and Trustees to develop a volunteer strategy.

**General Churn work**:

- The role will involve some travel around Cirencester and surrounding areas.
- As part of the team, contribute to the overall success of the Churn.
- Work with Churn Project team to accurately represent our services to supporters.
- Produce reports as required.
- Undergo Safeguarding Training.
- Be responsible for own health and safety at work in line with the projects health and safety policy.
- Be flexible about providing support and cover for colleagues as needed.
- Attend team meetings and events.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**

**Qualifications**

A general or technical education at and beyond GCSE level, usually BTEC, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, alongside a minimum of 5 GCSE at Grade 5 and above (or equivalent) - Desirable
