Deputy Freedom to Speak Up
King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Deputy Freedom to Speak Up (FTSU) Guardian, to work alongside the Lead Guardian.
This is a high-profile position within the Trust, offering an opportunity to be a visible and approachable Deputy FTSU Guardian. We are looking for somebody who has a natural passion to help continue to drive the Trust in becoming a safer, more open and supportive place to work, where staff are comfortable in speaking up, knowing action will be taken.
The Deputy FTSU Guardian will support the Trust Lead Guardian to provide expertise in developing a safe culture, which welcomes, thanks, supports and encourages all staff to speak up using local procedures as well as keeping up to date with national guidance and best practice. You will ensure ‘speak up, listen up, follow up’ is a normal part of everyday working life at King’s.
The Deputy FTSU Guardian will work closely with the Lead Guardian, but will also operate independently, impartially and objectively to provide advice and support in matters relating to raising concerns. Although independent, the role is not isolated and will require the post holder to establish strong partnerships and networks at all levels within the organisation, working closely with employee relations, the HR Business Partners, clinical leadership and other teams across the organisation.
The Deputy FTSU Guardian will share the operational workload with the Lead Guardian, supporting workers across all sites, but will maintain a regular, active and visual presence at the Princess Royal University Hospital and South Sites.
King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching Trusts with a turnover of c£1 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 15,000 staff based across South East London. By being person-centred, digitally-enabled, and focused on sustainability, we aim to take Team King’s to another level.
We are at a pivotal point in our history and we require individuals who are ready to join a highly professional team and make a real, lasting difference to our patients and our people.
King’s is committed to delivering Sustainable Healthcare for All via our Green Plan. In line with national Greener NHS ambitions, we have set net zero carbon targets of 2040 for our NHS Carbon Footprint and 2045 for our NHS Carbon Footprint Plus. Everyone’s contribution is required in order to meet the goals set out in our Green Plan and we encourage all staff to work responsibly, minimising their contributions to the Trust’s carbon emissions, waste and pollution wherever possible
