**About the role**

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate **Service Manager** to join our Adolescent and Youth Justice service in our drive for excellence.

In Barking and Dagenham, we recognise the importance of providing support to our community in dealing with issues such as neglect and domestic abuse. We also recognise that the risk of exploitation poses a serious threat to our most vulnerable children andyoung people. We are committed to developing robust teams and services to tackle these head on. We are passionate about achieving the very best for the families and young people that we work with across our community.

As a Service Manager your role will be central to providing exceptional and creative leadership for our Youth Justice Team and making a positive difference to children, young people and their families in our community. You will be required to plan, organiseand manage your team, providing effective operational management and support, as required, delegating this to your Team Managers, as necessary. You will support your Head of Service to deliver on portfolio commitments and National Standards and expectationsas well as inspection preparation. In addition to this, you will oversee all recruitment, service development, quality assurance and individual casework undertaken by your team.

**About you**

You are a social work qualified manager with extensive youth justice experience and knowledge who is passionate, caring and dedicated as well as being someone who is able to think outside the box and develop creative solutions. You are committed to relationship-basedpractice in all your interactions with staff and service users. As a skilled communicator you will have the ability to work with a broad range of people and partners, including working respectfully with children, young people and their families in a trulyco-productive way that encourages them to develop their own solutions and to identify what support they require. You will consistently ensure the views, wishes and feelings of our children, young people and their families are used to inform the plans producedby your teams, ensuring that all cases are safely and efficiently managed to agreed service standards, on time and within budget. Your strong interpersonal skills will allow you to work positively with partners to deliver innovative and integrated servicesthat provide value for money.

Your leadership skills, broad experience of working with children, and young people and specialist knowledge within the Youth Justice Arena will ensure that your teams deliver and learn from good practice, are accountable for their work and are committedto improving outcomes. You will have a strong record in managing youth justice services and meeting improvement outcomes.

**Special Requirements for this Post**
- You will need to be a qualified social worker and registered with Social Work England. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on successful applicants including an EnhancedChildren’s Department of Barring Services check
