We have a fantastic opportunity to recruit a permanent Band 6 Speech and Language Therapists to our Acute Stroke Team in East and North Hertfordshire, based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage.

The role is in our Acute Stroke Service, where you will be working alongside an MDT including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Consultants, Dieticians and Psychologists. We offer a full seven day service including bank holidays, which offers additional supplementary pay.

Our Acute Stroke service offers a fast paced and exciting environment where you will benefit from the broad knowledge and experience of the whole team.

This role would be an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 therapist looking to develop their skills or as a development opportunity for an experienced Band 5 therapist.

A full valid driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential for community posts (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

The main duties of the role are to provide assessment and intervention in an Acute Stroke environment.

You will demonstrate your excellent knowledge of dysphagia and communication by using sound evidence based care

You will support junior colleagues including NQTs and SLTas by providing both clinical and peer supervision

You will be involved in complex discharge planning and mental capacity assessments

You will participate in daily MDT meetings to discuss patient care, ensuring SLT goals are embedded in the overall patient management.

You will be expected to aim to deliver SLT intervention against a SSNAP rated service

The Speech and Language Therapy Service in East & North Hertfordshire is an integrated acute and community service covering community clinics, inpatient Neurological Rehabilitation and the Acute and Stroke teams based at the Lister Hospital.
