Shift Pattern: Mon Fri (possibly weekend 1in 4 for Stroke) 8 4pm and some weekend rosters negotiable

We are looking for anenthusiastic and dedicated Speech and Language Therapist who is committed toproviding a high standard of care to patients within our Community and Acuteservices. You will be based within our Acute SLT Team at Lister Hospital andworking within East and North Hertfordshire in the Community.
The Acute SLT Service providesassessment and intervention to patients with dysphagia following a strongevidence-based approach. Acute dysphagia experience is essential as you will beworking with a wide range of patients across Elderly Care, Surgical, Medical andRespiratory Wards. There is access to the SLT-led VF service with opportunitiesto develop competencies in this intervention.
You will be managing a variedand dynamic caseload in the community and will benefit from our unique hybridapproach of face-to-face and remote assessment, as well as contributing topathway development across the service.

The Responsibilities
If you are successful in yourapplication to this post, you will be expected to manage and deliver on theresponsibilities outlined below as well as those not included here, calltoday to discuss further:
To take clinical responsibility as an autonomousspecialist for the provision of a high-quality Speech and Language Therapyservice to adult inpatients on the acute medical and surgical wards and thecommunity in East & North Hertfordshire.
To assess, differentially diagnose and managecomplex swallowing and communication impairments related to a wide range ofconditions across the acute and community service pathways, with the aim ofrestoring optimum function or offering compensatory strategies.
To demonstrate an excellent knowledge of a rangeof both formal and informal assessments and apply them appropriately to a widepatient cohort.
To support both the immediate and long-termmanagement of patients with a wide range of degenerative neurologicalconditions, coordinating with the MDT to provide a high level of carethroughout the patient pathway.
To support junior colleagues, including NQTs andSLTAs, by providing both clinical and peer supervision.
The successful applicant will have establishedskills in dysphagia. Skills and experience in video fluoroscopy are desirablebut not essential.
