The Armoured Cavalry Programme is one of the largest and most stimulating in the Programmes Directorate within Army Headquarters. The Directorate employs over 1000 Civil Servants and the diverse workforce is dedicated to delivering the Army’s Modernisation Agenda, which is a portfolio of largely capital equipment programmes, with the objective of transforming the way in which the Army operates and the equipment it uses. The programme is part of the Government’s Major Programme Portfolio (GMPP).

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
We are in search of an organised, motivated and dynamic communications professional to join us and support the delivery of this pivotal Programme. You should have experience of actively leading communications planning and delivery.

In turn, we will offer the opportunity to lead communications on a complex programme at the heart of defence, which is central to the future Army and we will offer the opportunity to develop Project, Programme and Portfolio Management (P3M) skills, knowledge, and expertise in a demanding environment.

Whilst this role will be predominantly focused and responsible for Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, as an organisation we work in an agile manner, flexibly deploying colleagues to alternative P3M functions within the group as the need arises.

**Person specification**:
Main Responsibilities include:

- Leading and co-ordinating the Armoured Cavalry narrative and branding, ensuring cohesive messaging across organisations and across Defence.
- Ensuring the sharing and management of key information with stakeholders, analysing data and feedback, developing insights and acting as the focal point for formal written responses using approved lines to take.
- Planning promotional activity, co-ordinating event attendance, commissioning printed material and generating outline plans as per the direction given in the joint Communications Working Group.
- Anticipating enquiries and performing horizon-scanning for possible future events, media enquiries, Parliamentary Questions related to or impacting on the programme, such as Armed Forces announcements.
- Co-ordinating and providing input to Ministerial Submissions on behalf of the Senior Leadership. Leading on responses including Parliamentary Questions and media lines to take.
- Supporting and conducting preparation for regular committee meetings and oversight groups, for example, ensuring important information is supplied ahead of meetings, minutes are taken and actions appropriately assigned.
