Senior Assistant Psychologist

Northampton, United Kingdom Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Full time

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced assistant psychologist to join the large, expanding multi-disciplinary Northants Eating Disorder Service. The post-holder will assist senior staff in various development projects and will need good analytic and resource development skills.

There are excellent opportunities for further training and development and robust systems of support and supervision within the Trust.

Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation NHS Trust rated "Outstanding" and is a great place to work.

We offer evidence-based treatment for Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and OSFED. A comprehensive range of services is provided, from outpatient individual and group treatment packages for relatively mild-moderate cases through to intervention and case management of people with severe Anorexia Nervosa. Clinicians in NEDS work with individuals locally in the community and also co-ordinate referrals to Out of Area inpatient admissions to Specialist Eating Disorder Units (SEDU’s), as needed. We have a strong multidisciplinary team of 26 w.t.e. staff.

The purpose of this role is to support and enhance the psychological care of clients within the service. You will play a key role in project management and development of new service pathways and will assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching, and service development work.

You will also provide psychological assessment, formulations, and interventions under the regular clinical supervision of a qualified psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.

NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

For further information on the advertised role, please refer to the job description located under the Supporting Documents heading. The full person specification can be accessed under the ‘About You’ Section of the document.
