Job Description: Dunbar Education is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Learning Support Assistant to join our team in Northampton. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students in their academic journey, providing assistance both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with varying learning needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  2. Assist classroom teachers in planning and delivering lessons, ensuring that all students are engaged and supported in their learning.
  3. Help students develop essential study skills, organizational techniques, and time management strategies to promote academic success.
  4. Support students with the completion of assignments, projects, and coursework, providing guidance and feedback as necessary.
  5. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  6. Collaborate with other members of the school staff, including teachers, SENCOs, and educational psychologists, to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with SEND.
  7. Monitor student progress and provide regular updates to teachers and parents, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate interventions.
  8. Assist with the administration of exams and assessments, ensuring that all students have equal access to testing accommodations and support.
  9. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and academic performance, adhering to school policies and procedures.
  10. Stay up-to-date with current educational trends and best practices, participating in professional development opportunities as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience working within the education sector in the UK.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies related to SEND, safeguarding, and inclusion.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students in reaching their full potential.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or a related field are desirable
