**A vacancy exists for a Health and Safety Advisor within Lorient Polyproducts - ASSA ABLOY in Newton Abbot**
Location**:Newton Abbot
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 09:00am - 5:00pm
**Main Responsibilities and Challenges**
- **HSE Compliance and Management**:
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with HSE regulations.
- Monitor and report on HSE performance, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- **Risk Assessment and Incident Investigation**:
- Perform detailed risk assessments for all activities carried out on site and remotely.
- Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Maintain records of incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
- **Training and Development**:
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Ensure all staff are knowledgeable about HSE policies, emergency procedures, and safe work practices.
- Promote continuous HSE learning and awareness throughout the organisation.
- **Environmental Management**:
- Oversee environmental impact assessments and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Implement waste management, pollution control, and sustainability initiatives.
- Monitor and report on environmental performance and support efforts to reduce the company’s environmental footprint.
- **Emergency Preparedness and Response**:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios, including fire, chemical spills, and machinery malfunctions.
- Conduct regular drills and training to ensure readiness and compliance with emergency procedures.
- Coordinate with local emergency services and regulatory bodies as necessary.
- **Continuous Improvement**:
- Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes.
- Recommend and implement improvements to HSE practices and processes.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and proactive HSE management.
- **Reporting Structure**:
- Report to the Group HSE Manager for strategic HSE directives.
- Maintain a dotted line to the Site Operations Lead for day-to-day activities, ensuring alignment and integration of HSE practices with operational needs
**Standard Duties**:

- Ensure completion of all relevant compliance training and procedures.
- Assist with on-boarding of new staff into the business by helping with Training and providing information and assistance. - Help and assist other team members, even outside of own individual tasks.
- Take pro-active responsibility for the improvement of KPI’s by providing data to Management and actions plans for improvement.
- To be responsible for the health, safety and welfare of self and colleagues in accordance with group and local EHS procedures....and any other duties required to assist in supporting the achievement of Company objectives.
**Background and Personal Qualities Experience**:
- Proven experience as a Health and Safety Advisor, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
- In-depth knowledge safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with employees and managers.
- Ability develop and implement HSE arrangements to all levels.
**Qualifications**:
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent.
- Internal Auditor Trained (Preferable)
- Member of IOSH
