**Job summary**:
The Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) directorate has recently been established in UK Export Finance (UKEF), drawing together the expertise in digital currently within the organisation to provide representation of digital services, user centred design, analytics and technology at the highest levels. The areas with the directorate work closely with all areas of the business such as the Business Group, Operations and Strategy and Policy.

To enable this, UKEF is committed to using digital as a primary means for managing relationships with a wider range of stakeholders. Focusing on developing end-to-end services that meet users’ needs and enable business outcomes, this is an exciting role showing the growth and drive of UKEF’s digital ambition and focus on putting users first.

This role will undertake user research for projects and services across UKEF, researching with internal and external users, and working with the team to inform the design of solutions to meet users’ needs and business aspirations.

**Job description**:
A user researcher is usually embedded in a multidisciplinary team and responsible for planning and carrying out user research activities. At this level, you will be expected to work independently on a team. In this role, you will:

- plan and implement user research strategies to continually test and improve products and services. This includes recruitment strategy, working with stakeholders to build networks and recruit a diverse range of participants to ensure research is inclusive, accessible and meets Government standards
- plan and carry out research and testing both internally and externally, using the most appropriate technique. From recruiting participants, designing test tasks, preparing discussion guides, to test moderation, analysis and presenting results
- document and analyse user research findings and present back to the team and stakeholders (including presentations at show and tells, designing and maintaining research outputs so that everything is traceable and sharable)
- choose appropriate ways to engage teams in research and foster a culture of team involvement. Work closely with the team to turn findings into actions that lead to valuable improvements to our services
- work closely with the Data and Analytics team to define what success looks like our services
- represent user research for UKEF at cross-government and internal assessments against the Service Standard
- communicate user research findings to the wider organisation to build a strong and empathetic understanding of UKEF users
