Cancer Services are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Cancer Performance Team as a Cancer Pathway Navigator.

This role is crucial in the tracking and management of patients who are on suspected cancer pathways and diagnostic pathways. You will be responsible for updating patient’s records on the cancer database and liaising with different clinical and non -clinical professional staff for the preparation and coordination of key events along the patients cancer pathways. Cancer Services are looking for an individual who can work collaboratively with other services with particular attention to detail and accurate data input.

You will be the point of contact for the next steps in patient pathways following a suspected cancer referral.

You will co-ordinate with the clinical team to arrange the next steps and will communicate these to the patient. You will communicate questions and queries from the patient to the clinical team and provide the appropriate response to the patient.

The role is demanding so you must be confident, assertive and have the ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure. You will need good listening and communication skills and be able to deal with people both internally and externally in a sensitive and professional manner. The ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to Trust policies is paramount.

You will have experience in patient pathway management and will be confident using patient administration systems (including KOMS), and database packages (RIS, Telepath, InfoFlex, etc). Excellent team working, organisational and communication skills are all essential for this post, along with clear experience of resolving problems.

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.

The Trust’s core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients - the first of its kind in the country.
