This is a programme uniquely tailored to develop community nursing careers in Birmingham. It is the first dedicated cohort of Community Student Nurse Associate’s to be offered in Birmingham Community Healthcare and provides an exciting gateway opportunity into a nursing career.
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to undertake the Student Nurse Associate programme via an Apprenticeship route. As a Student Nursing Associate, you will be placed within one of the community nursing teams across the City and surrounding areas of Birmingham. You will have clinical placement experience across a range of services within the Adult Community Services Division, working as part of the multi-professional team and with support from both your practice area and your University.
You will be required to attend University one day a week and undertake practice placements to ensure that you develop the skills to care for people safely, with integrity, expertise, respect and compassion. Registered Nursing Associate posts will be available to Apprentices, on successful completion of the course and registration with the NMC
Nursing Associates provide care for people of all ages and from different backgrounds, cultures and beliefs. They provide care for people who have mental, physical, cognitive and behavioural care needs, those living with dementia, children and young people, the elderly and for people at the end of their life. They care for people in their own home, in the community or in any health care settings where their needs are supported and managed.
University College Birmingham (UCB) will deliver the academic programme over two years. As part of your Nursing Associate programme with UCB, you will have access to their practical and academic learning environments, including access to the skills and simulation suite to support you in practicing your clinical skills in readiness for placement.
