Job summary
The Nurse associate will work within a team and report to the EGAU Clinical nurse specialist.
The gynaecology nurse is a key team member in the delivery of specialist gynaecology/gynae oncology and early pregnancy nursing care to enable and support timely, effective care and ensuring bed availability for potential emergencies The Nurse Associate will contribute in assessing & triaging the patient.
Main duties of the job
To provide sensitive non judgmental and compassionate care to women and their families
To be able to assess and triage referrals from Referring Health professionals
To be able to undertake nursing assessments and complete safety plans / nursing assessments
To be able to recognize own limitations and escalate any concerns to CNS
To assist and work along side CNS
To be able to manage case load of patients and prioritise care
To be competent with cannulation and phlebotomy skills
To be able to provide pre and post op care if required, ECG , Wound care / assessment , catheterisation
To be able to provide Physical / emotional spiritual / psychological care to women undergoing pregnancy loss / miscarriage care / Termination of pregnancy care
To assist with Emergency Gynaecology clinics /Early pregnancy assessment unit within the unit
To assist with general ward duties and maintaining an efficient safe and clean ward environment for all
To assist medical staff with examination procedures and provide chaperone where appropriate
