Leeds, United Kingdom University of Leeds Full time

**Stakeholder Engagement Officer**:
**Do you have experience of engaging stakeholders in research?**

**Do you want to be part of a supportive and inclusive team who are leading patient safety research in the UK?**

**Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?**

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (Health Services and Delivery Research Programme) has funded a 39-month, mixed methods study aiming to understand what changes following the launch of a new patient safety policy, called the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF). This large multilevel, mixed-methods evaluation will explore the implementation of the PSIRF nationally with a longitudinal survey and documentary analysis, and organisationally through in-depth ethnography at six case-study organisations across three NHS regions in England.

You will have a range of responsibilities for ensuring the successful completion of this important programme of work. You will lead on stakeholder engagement, which principally involves establishing and co-ordinating two stakeholder groups who are critical to engage with in this programme:
**1) The Citizens Panel: Engaging those affected by the policy (patients and the public)**

The Citizens Panel will oversee progress, shape the research design, and provide oversight. The panel will support the research team in interpreting emergent findings, particularly with respect to issues of equality, diversity and inclusion. The panel will comprise up to 20 members, drawn from: i) patient advocacy organisations; ii) Patient Safety Partners (representatives that will sit within the safety governance infrastructure of NHS Trusts as part of the PSIRF implementation); and, iii) members of the public.

**2) Patient Safety Leads Panel: Engaging those implementing the policy**

The Patient Safety Leads Panel will be drawn from the network of Patient Safety Specialists that has been established as part of the national patient safety strategy. This panel would be up to 25 people undertaking these roles in NHS Trusts, with representation across all regions of England.

You will be responsible for maintaining strong links with these two stakeholder groups to facilitate and support their contribution to the research programme. You will co-ordinate meetings and events that bring these groups together throughout the programme of work, and link to existing Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) affiliated infrastructure. You will also have a key role in supporting activity around creative dissemination of findings.

You will have previously undertaken research stakeholder engagement activities within health-related research / applied health services research. You will be comfortable working in a large team to contribute to shared research goals. You will be an integral part of the research team, working alongside the two Co-Principle Investigators, the PPIE Co-Investigator, the wider Co-Investigator team, the Programme Manager and core Researchers, to deliver the programme of work.

You will report jointly to the two Co-Principle Investigators for the programme - Professor Jane O’Hara (School of Healthcare, University of Leeds) and Professor Carl Macrae (University of Nottingham). You will be line managed by the Programme Manager - Dr Gemma Louch (School of Healthcare, University of Leeds).
