National Planning Manager - Transport
Hybrid role – c2-3 days per week in Swindon
Up to £60,000 including car allowance & benefits

MVP is partnering with an ambitious national business currently searching for a talented National Planning Manager to join its dynamic team. In this role, you'll be responsible for leading and optimizing its central planning function, ensuring the development of efficient and cost-effective transport plans that will directly support its growth agenda whilst working within its core principles.
What You'll Do:
* Leadership: Provide strategic direction and operational leadership to the central planning team, fostering a collaborative work environment and maximizing efficiency.
* Planning & Optimization: Develop and implement innovative planning processes to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation of goods. This includes leveraging technology and data analysis to optimize resource allocation.
* Safety First: Promote a culture of safety awareness by conducting regular audits, developing emergency response plans, and ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
* Customer Centric: Lead efforts to understand customer needs and preferences, developing strategies to enhance the customer experience through streamlined planning and improved service delivery.
* People Development: Build and manage a high-performing planning team by recruiting, onboarding, coaching, and providing training opportunities.
* Financial Acumen: Develop and manage the annual budget for the planning function, monitoring financial performance and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
* Communication & Collaboration: Maintain excellent communication and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management, customers, and internal teams.
Who You Are:
* A seasoned transport planning professional with experience gained within a transport planning leadership role.
* Proven track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
* In-depth knowledge of transport planning software and Transport Management Systems (TMS) solutions.
* Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in transportation operations.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and reporting skills.
* Proficiency in financial management and budgeting.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
* A proactive and results-oriented individual with the ability to handle multiple priorities and excel in a fast-paced environment.
Bonus Points:
* Experience managing relationships across multiple sites.
* Experience gained within central transport functions / control tower environments.
* A passion for innovation and implementing process improvements.
