We are seeking a National Collections Registrar - Technical Lead to enhance our team.
This role presents an exceptional opportunity to guide a team as the technical authority for collections due diligence.
The Collections Management and Care team collaborates closely with colleagues across various Trust regions and countries to deliver professional and efficient loan management services.
They are responsible for establishing collections management and care policies and standards, providing services, and offering expert advice, guidance, and training. Their duties include managing and/or supporting loans, acquisitions, disposals, collections assessments, central transport services, insurance/GIS, and investigating legal ownership.

Your primary work location will be our head office, with an expectation to attend the office regularly. However, there is flexibility regarding your base location at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week, which will be discussed further during the interview process.
The role may also necessitate travel to various properties or regional hubs to engage with stakeholders and perform necessary tasks.
Key Responsibilities
As the technical lead, you will assist the Senior National Collections Manager in developing and supporting the Trust's strategy for managing and researching legal ownership and provenance.
Your responsibilities will include planning, supervising, and reporting on collections management initiatives, as well as assisting in the investigation of ownership inquiries.
You will oversee the work of other Registrars and temporary project staff, who may be part of your team or stationed at a property. Additionally, you will manage the business processes for your area of expertise and lead training and professional development initiatives to empower our staff in conducting due diligence with confidence and effective risk management.
Candidate Profile

- Extensive experience and knowledge in collections management and the legal and ethical frameworks that govern it.
- Strong background in due diligence research.
- Familiarity with museum-standard exhibition loans and practices.
- Proficiency in utilizing data management systems for analysis, management, and reporting.
- Experience in scoping and managing projects, including budgets and reporting.
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, SharePoint, Planner).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Previous experience in line management or volunteer supervision is preferred.
