We are currently recruiting for a National Collections Registrar - Technical Lead to join our team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a team as technical lead for collections due diligence.

The Collections Management and Care team works closely with colleagues across Trust regions and countries to provide professional and cost-effective loan management services. 

They lead for collections management and care policies and standards, delivering services and providing expert advice, guidance and training. They are responsible for managing and/or supporting loans in and out, acquisitions, disposals, collections reviews, the central transport service, insurance/GIS, and investigating legal ownership.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

The role may also involve travel to properties or regional hubs to meet with stakeholders and to carry out work.

What you'll be doing

As the technical lead, you’ll support the Senior National Collections Manager to develop and support the Trust’s approach to managing and researching legal ownership and provenance. 

You’ll be responsible for planning, supervising and reporting on collections management projects, as well as helping to investigating ownership queries.

You'll manage or oversee the work of other Registrars and fixed term project staff, who may be based in your team or working at a property. You’ll manage the business procedures for your specialist area, and you will lead for training and professional development to empower and enable our people to undertake due diligence with confidence and effective risk management.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

Excellent experience in and knowledge of collections management and the legal and ethical framework that underpins it. Excellent experience in and knowledge of due diligence research. Experience of museum standard exhibition loans and practice Experience of working with data management systems to analyse, manage and report on data. Experience of scoping and managing projects, including i.e. budgets and reporting. Experience of using Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, SharePoint, Planner). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Experience of line management or volunteer supervision preferable
