Manufacturing Engineer - Prototype

Location: Lye

Reports To : R&D Team Lead

Salary: 35000k to 40000k

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Prototype Engineer is responsible for the operation and management of the local Engineering Prototype shop. The position supports the local R&D teams by manufacturing parts/products according to R&D. This includes sourcing components and all necessary manufacture and assembly. It includes analysis of designs and problem solving. Interaction with other functional groups, such as Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing and Product Management is essential. Further responsibilities include coordinating the workflow and priorities of the Prototype shop ensuring all machining apparatus is present, functional and calibrated.The prototype engineer coordinates the timely prototype deliverables for verification test with internal and external resources. The prototype Engineer must comply with the companies processes. and further more be familiar with

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Apply electrical and mechanical knowledge to conduct product manufacture and assembly according Sunrise designs and best practice

* Understand the product development and Test Plan and ensure prototypes are available as per the project plan.

* Document the results of the component/product manufacture/Assembly in order to feedback issues to R&D Engineers.

* Responsible for the proper release of prototypes and promptly notifying the responsible engineer of any delays.

* Apply analytical capabilities to accurately predict function and service life and most efficient assembly methods.

* Read and understand design drawings and measure components accordingly.

* Evaluate proper fit/function of build prototypes and serial products.

* Take responsibility for suppliers of components outsourced.

* Ensure test apparatus is available, properly available, properly maintained and calibrated.

* Ensure the facility workflow is properly managed and communicated to the relevant parties.

* Ensure workflow is managed to ensure priorities and work status is properly communicated.

* Ensure the prototype facility is properly maintained and tidy.

* Ability to assemble and disassemble medical products.

* Other duties as agreed by supervisor.

Implementation Tasks

* Work with the other Engineers, departments, test labs and suppliers to ensure successful project completion and to meet project goals.

* Contribute to the development of internally generated products.

* Adjust, rework and manufacture produce as necessary manufacturing jigs by doing itself or looking after outsourcing. either building in-house our out-sourcing.

* Lead the execution and completion of prototype builds per the project plan.

* Perform root cause analysis and evaluation of product quality issues, identify and, implement solutions, and provide feedback into the appropriate process to eliminate future issues.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGEKNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

* Apprenticed and/or time served all round machinist (turning, milling, drilling, cutting). Ideally with fabrication and welding capabilities.

* Some electrical looming knowledge would be beneficial.

* Experience preferably in medical related field. Minimum of 2 years’ experience.

* Be able to resolve issues in a structured, logical timely manner.

* Able to communicate, read, and write clearly in the English language.

* Able to travel 10% of the time to Europe (passport required).

* Understand principles of manufacture and measurement.

* Proven ability to manage a prototype facility.
