Adecco are recruiting automotive engineers to join Bentley's prestigious Whole Vehicle Physics Department, to be a part of delivering unparalleled vehicle performance, efficiency, and sustainability. The Weight Management Function plays a crucial role from concept through design, development, and certification, ensuring all Bentleys meet and exceed product targets. This dynamic department interfaces with a diverse array of stakeholders across the business, tackling every aspect and stage of weight management.

Role: Automotive Engineer (weight management)

Pay rate: up to £38.99ph

Hours: 37hours per week

Location: Crewe, Hybrid (Flexible)

Duration: Until 31/01/2025 - Strong likelihood to be extended.

What You'll Do:

As a Weight Management Engineer Contractor, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of Bentley vehicles. Your responsibilities will include:

Setting and Delivering Weight Targets: Utilise your engineering expertise, stay ahead of lightweight technology trends, and use BoM weight roll-ups and vehicle/part measurements to set and achieve whole vehicle weight targets.
Project Management: Independently manage project-related activities, creating and presenting comprehensive reports to Senior Management.
Program Planning: Lead weight reduction work-streams and closely collaborate with other functions to ensure weight targets are met.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Constructively challenge and influence engineering departments to achieve set goals.
Weight Calculations: Calculate vehicle weight and mass properties (Centre of Gravity and Moments of Inertia) using a variety of methods and data sources.
Certification Weights: Contribute to the calculation of certification weights, ensuring cross-functional agreement based on multiple data sources and relevant legislation.
Benchmarking: Conduct competitor benchmarking, including evaluating technologies used and setting attribute targets.Your Skills and Experience:

Collaborative Relationships: Proven experience in building strong, collaborative, and influential relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
Technical Proficiency: Good knowledge of CAD and Bill of Materials/spec configuration systems.
Lightweight Technologies: Strong understanding of lightweight technologies and emerging trends.
MS Office Skills: Proficient in MS Office, including macro writing.
Certification Knowledge: Demonstrable knowledge of weight certification requirements for European and global markets.Why Bentley?
