An esteemed luxury and performance automotive manufacturer is seeking an Automotive Exterior Illumination Specialist to join their team on a contractual basis.
This prestigious British brand boasts a rich history of over a century, celebrated for its exceptional craftsmanship and the creation of some of the most luxurious vehicles in the world, utilizing the skills of outstanding professionals and premium materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the comprehensive design and development process of exterior lighting systems.
- Collaborate with design teams, suppliers, and product development to ensure seamless integration and alignment with project goals.
- Maintain and enhance specialized technical and business acumen within the lighting domain.
- Define and strategize work plans for approval by the Functional Manager.
- Engineer and deliver specific exterior lighting solutions for both new and existing vehicle production lines, ensuring compliance with style requirements while adhering to legal, cost-effective, and timely standards.
- Conduct feasibility studies and conceptual evaluations in collaboration with Styling, Concept Engineering, and Product Planning Departments, as well as external partners.
- Develop detailed work packages for handover to delivery engineers, facilitating a smooth transition to Start of Production (SOP).
- Assist the Functional Manager in formulating responses for Product Planning.
- Ensure timely release of parts and integration for prototype builds and production, contributing to the successful launch of vehicles within quality and cost parameters.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Automotive, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in the design and development of automotive exterior lighting, preferably within an OEM or Tier 1 supplier environment.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 is essential.
- Ability to work autonomously and independently.
- Willingness to travel across the UK and Europe as necessary to support development initiatives.
- A valid driving license is required.
Working Hours:
35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible start and finish times around core hours.
