Science Programme Manager (Strategic Initiatives & Institute Output Reporting)
The UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) is a globally leading multidisciplinary research institute of over 900 staff investigating the spectrum of neurodegenerative disorders causing dementia, driving a step change in our understanding of neurodegeneration, and accelerating the discovery, development and delivery of interventions that will help diagnose, treat, and ultimately prevent dementia.
The UK DRI had an outstanding first quinquennial review (2017-22), and its ambitious five-year strategic plan includes a number of initiatives to encourage innovative, collaborative and bold research at all career levels.
We are looking for a scientifically trained, well-organised professional who will work in close collaboration with the Science Manager to ensure effective coordination of essential activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in science strategy and programme and project management, who relishes the opportunity to be part of the continuous development and growth of a world leading Institute. The role requires strong analytical, stakeholder engagement and project management skills.
You will provide high level strategic and operational support in developing, promoting and facilitating research initiatives across the UK DRI and building and nurturing partnerships with strategically important national and international stakeholders. In addition, you will be responsible for the efficient analysis of UK DRI-wide outputs and periodic reporting for the UK DRI Board of Trustees, and the organisation of scientific workshops and other scientific events As a result, you will have a direct and significant impact on the strategic direction of the national institute.
The role is available immediately and funded by UK DRI Ltd until 31 March 2028 in the first instance, with likely extension dependent on successful quinquennial review.
The UK DRI Central Team is currently an Institute within the Faculty of Brain Sciences at University College London (UCL); The role that you have applied for is a new post and therefore should the TUPE transfer take place, the successful candidate will be employed on a UK DRI contract of employment and offered pay and terms and conditions as established by UK DRI Ltd. UK DRI Ltd will offer a competitive pay and terms and conditions framework and this does not change the salary package as stated in this advert.
This role is eligible for hybrid working with 20-40% of time to be spent on site.

An understanding of and interest in the mission of the UK DRI is essential, as is experience of organising and manging scientific events, writing reports, carrying out scoping and landscape reviews, and strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.
