As a Senior Workplace, Health and Safety (WHS) Manager, your role is key to driving improvements on-site and at a regional level in Belgium. You’ll help your colleagues maintain high standards, all while driving a culture of safety and inclusivity on your site.
The successful candidate will be an experienced, innovative and proactive individual who is passionate about Health and Safety in a professional context. In time, we’ll expect you to become as customer-centric as we are and apply this to your work each day.
You will need to identify, coordinate and drive improvements in Safety, while engaging operational and other support function stakeholders. In this crucial Health and Safety position, you’ll report into the FR Workplace Health and Safety Regional Manager.
Key job responsibilities- Assisting with the delivery of safety performance and monitoring, in line with personnel, team and functional goals and objectives.
- Facilitating or arranging training programs on critical WHS issues.
- Supporting the implementation of WHS programs within Operations, while delivering key risk assessment activities.
- Promoting compliance with local and EU legislation.
- Ensuring that WHS systems are kept accurate at all times, with completed incident reports, alongside all supporting documentation.
- Assisting the WHS Regional Manager with the construction of incident prevention programs.
- Contributing to requests for improvement of on-site safety and positively impact accident trends.
- Participating in the Safety Audit Programs.
- Assisting with the coordination and training of new Health and Safety team members.
- Acting as a proxy for the WHS Regional FR Manager.
- Arranging, facilitating and contributing to site Safety Steering Committee meetings.
- Arranging and conducting basic surveys and checks in the Delivery stations environment, looking into facility processes, Health and Safety supplies as well as employee behaviors.
- Support Delivery Stations with WHS training.
- Flexibility to travel to be able to support at different locations in France.
This is an extremely varied role based at one of our sites, allowing you to directly contribute to many aspects of our safety culture. You will manage health and safety standards while improving functionality and efficiency. You’ll also manage your team and help them implement changes in response to employee feedback or seize opportunities to continuously make process improvements.
Your role is instrumental in keeping employees safe, managing their satisfaction, and supervising their wellbeing and productivity. You’ll step in and take ownership of health and safety to foster a culture that revolves around operating safely. Year-on-year, as we continue to grow, we need to work as smart as we can, to keep all our team members safe, fulfilled, motivated and empowered. To help us achieve this, we’re seeking a driven Sr. Workplace Health & Safety regional manager.
About the teamAmazon Logistics, or AMZL, handles ‘last mile’ delivery duties in partnership with third-party distribution businesses. We utilise creative thinking and continuous improvement initiatives to get millions of physical products into the hands of our customers. Our goal is to make our customers’ delivery experience as smooth as possible and roll out global delivery solutions for our newest concepts, like Amazon Fresh, Prime Now and Amazon Restaurants.
There are two sides to what we do. Our ‘under the roof’ associates process millions of products for dispatch to our delivery teams. Our team is people-focused and supportive, particularly as lots of our people work through the night. We focus mostly on operations, with 24/7 shifts in most of our locations.
Meanwhile, our ‘on the road’ people work with Amazon Flex - a network of delivery contractors. Every year, we continually raise the bar for customer experience with new, innovative delivery services. We look for new ways to overcome industry wide logistics challenges and new ideas to reduce our carbon footprint, supported by a portfolio of cutting-edge vehicles (including Electric Vehicles) and technology to help us do just that.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Accredited safety technician in occupational risks prevention. We are looking for an advisor of prevention level I or level II.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Several years of experience in occupational safety.
- Contributes to a positive team environment.
- Drive, enthusiasm and self-motivation.
- Good Computer Skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English, Dutch and French.
- Able to travel on French sites.
- Management Experience.
- Qualifications or experience of environmentally-conscious initiatives.
- You possess experience of Lean, 5S and Kaizen methodologies.
- Proven ability to work to targets and deadlines.
- Proven ability to quickly learn and effectively adhere to new processes and procedures.
