We are looking for an IT Support Engineer to join us initially on a 6-month FTC (this is a cover for a sabbatical) at our office in London in St James’s Street (Green Park/Piccadilly Tube Stations).

Role Overview:

The IT Support Engineer is an office-based in-house support role that oversees the IT support process as well as manage the lifecycle of all company devices, on-site and remote, including setup, deployment, and support. The IT Support Engineer will work with our internal DevOps team, external providers, and consultants to maintain the company’s onsite network, server cluster, storage, as well as cloud infrastructure and services.

This role provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience and make an immediate impact during this period; as well as a possibility of it becoming permanent in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the lifecycle of all company devices on-site and remote, including setup, deployment, and support.
  • Work with internal DevOps team, external providers, and consultants to maintain the company’s onsite network, server cluster, storage, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Identify network and internet access issues and provide remediation options.
  • Assist users with equipment and applications, diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues. Identify the root causes of IT problems and offer redress options.
  • Research and identify solutions to software and hardware issues, focusing on fixing the root cause.
  • Provide support for third-party provider or vendor search, selection, , support on-boarding process and monitor SLAs.
  • Protect company assets by deploying software updates and patches.
  • Manage other resources such as printers, A/V, CCTV, etc.
  • Maintain the inventory of software and hardware assets.
  • Keep track of hardware warranties, software licenses, and contract expirations.
  • Propose options for improvements where possible.

Education, Skills & Experience Required:

  • Must be a university graduate with a minimum of 2 years of experience in an IT Support Engineer, Desktop Support Engineer, IT Help Desk Technician, or a similar role.
  • Passion for technology and working with computers, servers, networks, managing equipment and cloud, is key.
  • Experience with Palo Alto firewalls as well as wireless networking is advantageous. Alternatively Cisco firewall knowledge will be helpful.
  • Ability to quickly diagnose and provide fixes for common IT issues.
  • Understanding of best practices around data protection and the ability to implement them.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows environment, comfortable with PowerShell.
  • Good understanding and demonstrable experience with Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender, Exchange Online, and Office 365.
  • Familiarity with Mac OS and Linux.
  • Team player with good communication skills and a can-do attitude.
  • Able to respond to challenges and challenge others, where appropriate.
  • Willing to go beyond what is strictly required and constantly improve.
