Premium Kitchen Shift Manager ensures the smooth running of processes on a production plating floor. Their duties include overseeing routine production activities, troubleshooting and solving issues that arise on a production floor and ensuring a safe and clean production workspace.

Shift Manager duties and responsibilities

  • Ensuring that production processes are in line with company and regulatory requirements
  • Accurately completing all necessary documentation for regulatory compliance
  • Communicating expectations to production team members and evaluating their performance
  • Facilitate the training of staff members, monitor their performance, and provide ongoing support to help them achieve their goals.
  • Lead and manage a team of production staff and supervisors, fostering a productive and cohesive work environment.
  • Indirect management of huge group of staff
  • Ensuring that own and employee's behavior and conduct meet the needs of the business.
  • Implementing relevant emergency response procedures during emergency situations
  • Regularly checking the machinery and checkpoints to ensure safe and efficient workflow
  • Ensuring Food, Personal Hygiene Procedures and company procedures are always followed by team members
  • Ensure the highest quality and food safety standards are embedded in your area for your shift
  • Identify and address problematic areas, proposing alternative solutions to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Maintain adherence to all company guidelines, including HACCP, Food and Health Safety regulations, and personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols.
  • Compiling reports about production and providing senior management with updates
  • Managing the repair or replacement of faulty production equipment
  • Ensuring all resources and assets are used efficiently and correctly
  • Ensuring production schedule is met
  • Carry out assigned work to ensure on-time delivery of finished plating dishes
  • Spotting and controlling non-conformances
  • Promote and maintain an “audit ready” culture within the plating by ensuring you understands “what good looks like”.
  • Communicate in a timely and effective manner with Managers of other departments (eg. Quality, Food Store, Materials, Equipment, Operation) about any issues that occur (eg. Product quality, Late Deliveries, Product/Equipment Shortages etc.) which might impact upon the normal smooth running of other departments.

The above list is not exhaustive, due to business needs you may be required to carry out additional duties. To ensure maximum efficiencies within the operation, flexibility is essential. You will be required to assist in other areas which could include other departments within the business.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of management/leading experience in a high-volume food service of food manufacturing production.
  • Allergen awareness / practical management of allergens
  • Knowledge and understanding of food safety legislation
  • Demonstrates outstanding organizational skills and a knack for prioritizing tasks effectively
  • Previous experience within Flight Catering
  • Knowledge of HACCP, Food Legislation, Food Hygiene
  • Excellent in computer knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other relevant applications.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Must always demonstrate integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work efficiently using own initiative to resolve issues.
  • Ability to build relations and manage diverse teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales, prioritising as appropriate.
  • Proactive and positive/flexible attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to interact and work well within a diverse group with experience/exposure to leadership roles.
  • Capable of seamlessly managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment, dealing with a substantial workload, and sustaining periods of extended standing as required.
  • Intermediate certificate in applied HACCP principles

  • Must be able to plan and organise activities of self and team, to achieve balance of proactive and reactive tasks.

Hours of Work

  • 40 hours per week with variable shifts
  • Shifts: Morning, Middle, Late or Night (If required)
