Applications Support Team Leader (Permanent)

Salary: Up to £60k (based on experience)

Working Arrangement: Hybrid (Onsite 1 day per week)

Location: London or Birmingham Office

Hours: Full Time with flexible working options



Venn Group is proud to be partnering with a non-departmental government body to recruit an Applications Support Team Leader. This is a permanent opportunity for a skilled professional with strong technical expertise in 3rd line applications support, SQL, and SharePoint administration.



Key Responsibilities of the Applications Support Team Leader:

  • Lead and manage a small team of application and systems engineers, ensuring the team’s performance aligns with organisational SLAs and KPIs
  • Provide 3rd line support for business applications, addressing and resolving technical issues
  • Collaborate closely with the finance team to support the existing finance application (Unit4 Agresso) and assist with migration to a Microsoft Dynamics platform
  • Run SQL scripts and queries to support application maintenance and development
  • Handle key HR responsibilities, including staff management, performance appraisals, and onboarding of new team members
  • Engage indirectly with suppliers, with primary supplier management being handled by senior stakeholders



Essential Skills and Experience for the Application Support Team Leader:

  • 3rd line applications support experience
  • SQL proficiency for scripting and reporting
  • SharePoint administration and setup experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels
  • Management or leadership experience is not mandatory, but you will oversee a small team of two staff members
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices (v3 or v4)
  • Proven experience in using Microsoft technologies such as SharePoint, Azure, and Windows
  • Experience with Service Now is not essential but would be desirable
