Job Title: Senior NPD Technologist

Reports to: NPD Manager

Job Purpose: As a Senior NPD Technologist, you will be responsible for leading the development of innovative and high-quality food products from concept to launch. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Operations, Procurement, and Quality Assurance, to ensure that new products meet market demands, regulatory requirements, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Development:

o Lead the development of new products, from ideation through to commercialization.

o Conduct market research and trend analysis to identify new product opportunities.

o Create and manage product development timelines to ensure projects are completed on schedule.

2. Recipe Formulation:

o Develop and refine recipes, ensuring they meet nutritional, sensory, and cost requirements.

o Conduct kitchen trials and pilot plant trials to test new formulations and processes.

o Ensure all products comply with regulatory and company standards.

3. Project Management:

o Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.

o Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

o Prepare and present project updates and reports to senior management.

4. Technical Support:

o Provide technical support to production teams during product launches.

o Troubleshoot issues related to product formulation, processing, and packaging.

o Work with suppliers to source new ingredients and materials.

5. Continuous Improvement:

o Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.

o Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.

o Mentor and support junior NPD technologists and other team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of food science, ingredient functionality, and food processing techniques.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and product development software.

  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for supplier visits, conferences, and production trials.
