Job Title: Senior NPD Technologist

Reporting To: NPD Manager

Role Overview: As a Senior NPD Technologist, you will spearhead the creation of cutting-edge and premium food products from initial concept through to market introduction. Collaboration with various departments, including Marketing, Operations, Procurement, and Quality Assurance, will be essential to ensure that new offerings align with consumer needs, adhere to regulatory standards, and meet company benchmarks.

Key Duties:

1. Product Innovation:

• Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from brainstorming to market launch.

• Perform market analysis and trend assessments to pinpoint new product possibilities.

• Develop and maintain product development schedules to guarantee timely project completion.

2. Recipe Development:

• Formulate and enhance recipes, ensuring compliance with nutritional, sensory, and budgetary standards.

• Conduct kitchen and pilot plant trials to evaluate new formulations and methodologies.

• Ensure all products meet regulatory and company compliance requirements.

3. Project Coordination:

• Handle multiple projects concurrently, prioritizing tasks to meet established deadlines.

• Collaborate with both internal and external partners to achieve successful project results.

• Prepare and deliver project status updates and reports to upper management.

4. Technical Assistance:

• Offer technical guidance to production teams during product rollouts.

• Address challenges related to product formulation, processing, and packaging.

• Engage with suppliers to procure new ingredients and materials.

5. Ongoing Enhancement:

• Identify avenues for process optimization and cost reduction.

• Remain informed about industry developments, emerging technologies, and regulatory updates.

• Mentor and assist junior NPD technologists and other team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of food science, ingredient functionality, and food processing methods.
  • Exceptional project management capabilities, with the ability to juggle multiple projects.
  • Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and product development tools.

  • Flexibility to work varied hours as necessary to meet project timelines.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for supplier engagements, conferences, and production trials.
