Job Title: Senior NPD Technologist

Reports to: NPD Manager

Job Purpose: In the role of Senior NPD Technologist, you will spearhead the creation of innovative and premium food products from initial concept through to market introduction. Collaborating with various teams, including Marketing, Operations, Procurement, and Quality Assurance, you will ensure that new offerings align with market needs, comply with regulatory standards, and meet the company's quality benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Development:

• Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation to commercialization.

• Conduct thorough market analysis and trend evaluations to pinpoint new product possibilities.

• Develop and maintain product development schedules to guarantee timely project completion.

2. Recipe Formulation:

• Formulate and enhance recipes, ensuring they satisfy nutritional, sensory, and cost criteria.

• Execute kitchen trials and pilot plant experiments to validate new formulations and processes.

• Ensure all products adhere to regulatory and company standards.

3. Project Management:

• Handle multiple projects concurrently, prioritizing tasks to meet established deadlines.

• Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

• Prepare and present updates and reports on project progress to senior management.

4. Technical Support:

• Offer technical assistance to production teams during product launches.

• Resolve issues related to product formulation, processing, and packaging.

• Collaborate with suppliers to procure new ingredients and materials.

5. Continuous Improvement:

• Identify areas for process enhancements and cost efficiencies.

• Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory updates.

• Mentor and guide junior NPD technologists and other team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Comprehensive understanding of food science, ingredient functionality, and food processing methodologies.
  • Exceptional project management capabilities, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and product development tools.

  • Flexibility to work varied hours as necessary to meet project timelines.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for supplier engagements, conferences, and production trials.
