Job Title: Senior NPD Technologist

Reports to: NPD Manager

Job Purpose: In the role of Senior NPD Technologist, you will spearhead the creation of innovative and premium food products from initial concept through to market introduction. Collaborating closely with various departments, including Marketing, Operations, Procurement, and Quality Assurance, you will ensure that new offerings align with market needs, adhere to regulatory standards, and meet the company’s quality benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Development:

• Oversee the creation of new food products, guiding them from idea generation to successful market launch.

• Perform market analysis and trend assessments to pinpoint potential product opportunities.

• Develop and oversee product development schedules to guarantee timely project completion.

2. Recipe Formulation:

• Design and enhance recipes, ensuring compliance with nutritional, sensory, and budgetary standards.

• Conduct kitchen and pilot plant trials to evaluate new formulations and production methods.

• Ensure all products conform to industry regulations and internal quality standards.

3. Project Management:

• Manage several projects concurrently, prioritizing tasks to meet established deadlines.

• Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to achieve successful project results.

• Prepare and deliver project updates and reports to upper management.

4. Technical Support:

• Offer technical assistance to production teams during product rollouts.

• Address and resolve issues related to product formulation, processing, and packaging.

• Partner with suppliers to identify and procure new ingredients and materials.

5. Continuous Improvement:

• Identify and implement process enhancements and cost-saving measures.

• Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments.

• Mentor and guide junior NPD technologists and other team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of food science, ingredient functionality, and food processing methodologies.
  • Exceptional project management capabilities, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and product development software.

  • Flexibility to work varied hours as necessary to meet project timelines.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for supplier engagements, conferences, and production evaluations.
