Serving as a role model for Team Leads and Principal Engineers, emphasising consistent communication, clear prioritisation, and robust objective-setting as integral components of Performance Development Plans (PDPs). Leading and motivating the SRE & Infrastructure, fostering a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement, while also providing professional development opportunities for all team members.What you'll bringRequired: Proven experience in leading and managing a team of SRE & Infrastructure Engineers, demonstrating strong leadership and people management skills. Proficiency in a wide range of cloud & infrastructure technologies, including but not limited to Azure, AWS, Windows, Unix, Virtualisation, Database and Unix technologies. Track record of successfully delivering large-scale infrastructure projects on time and within budget, with experience in project management methodologies such as Agile or ITIL. Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for SRE & infrastructure engineering, aligning technology solutions with the department goals and objectives. Effective interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with internal stakeholders, understanding their evolving needs, and providing solutions. Experience in vendor selection, contract negotiation, and ongoing vendor relationship management to ensure cost-effective and efficient infrastructure services. Knowledge of industry compliance standards (e.g., ISO, NIST, GDPR) and experience in implementing security measures and protocols to protect infrastructure and data. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams.Preferred Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. (Not essential if you have related experience or aptitude). Certifications in ITIL Foundation, Practitioner, or greater, reflecting a clear understanding of infrastructure best lifecycle and best practices. Certifications in Agile management, such as Scaled Agile Framework, Certified Scrum Product Owner or similar. Proficiency in task and incident management tooling such as ServiceNow. Proficiency in product management tools like JIRA and Aha Good understanding of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Ansible. Understanding of virtualisation technology such as VMWare vSphere, vCentre and ESXI hosting. Understanding of security frameworks such as NIST/SOC 2/ISO/IEC.
