Fire Safety Compliance Surveyor

We are currently working in partnership with well renowned Housing Association based in Sussex, who are recruiting for a Fire Safety Compliance Surveyor on a 3 month temporary contract with an opportunity to move to a permanent position.


This is rate for this role is between £30 and £40 per hour via UMBRELLA dependent on experience.


Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Carrying out overall day-to-day management of property compliance in regards to gas, electrical, fire, asbestos, water hygiene and lift safety, as well as, other landlord health and safety areas
  • Ensuring statutory compliance is managed and monitored effectively, removing risk to the company where possible and identifying and implementing mitigation measures where complete risk removal is not possible
  • Ensure the statutory compliance areas are effectively monitored both in terms of the level of compliance, quality and cost control
  • Provide regular property compliance KPI reports to senior management
  • Ensure agreed access procedures to residents’ homes are followed
  • Manage the compliance control process, working with health and safety partners/consultants to ensure new laws and legislation is implemented throughout the organisation in a timely fashion.
  • Carry out property inspections to ensure the safety and compliance of our customers’ homes, communal blocks and sites
  • To organise and monitor remedial works and actions following compliance inspections to ensure they are completed to a satisfactory standard and within the target priority deadlines


Experience required:

  • Relevant experience in a housing or property / building organisation
  • Extensive experience of undertaking a wide range of building surveying functions
  • Experience in managing property compliance
  • Experience of housing and repairs management information systems


Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • IOSH or NEBOSH Desirable
  • Able to raise works orders and supporting documentation for works to be carried out with timescale and budget.
  • Sound technical knowledge of building construction and property compliance areas
  • Up to date knowledge of housing sector, best practice and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • 35 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
