Due to fantastic market growth, our client has acquired a new 14 acre site in Bedford, in which they will be carrying out both physical and digital vehicle auctions. We are seeking to appoint an experienced Site manager, who has a background in the car auction market, to join their business and oversee all day-to-day operations of the site and management of 19 staff.

As the Auction CentreGeneral Manager to work closely with our vendor and buyers, whilst driving standards within my clients newly opened center. As a customer-facing representative of the business, it is important that high standards are maintained within a fast-moving workplace.

As an Auction Centre Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • You will have direct responsibility for 19 employees currently, who will consist of Yard staff, Vehicle Inspectors, Vehicle Buyers, Marketing Administrators and logistics employees.
  • Understand the performance requirements of the branch and drive the results from within in a timely and efficient manner
  • Working with the central sales and marketing teams to leverage relationships with both vendor and buyers to help contribute to the overall profitability targets
  • You will be accountable for vendor performance within the branch, whilst ensuring buyers are both engaged and satisfied to maintain and grow the dealer-base required to create a thriving vehicle marketplace
  • Lead regular briefings and team huddles to encourage one-team mentality and ensure everyone is commercially aware of their responsibilities towards the branch goals
  • Liaise closely with both branch and group account managers to ensure we know our vendors and their vehicles are in appropriate sales before cut-offs, and ensure sale catalogues, including all administration and documentation processes, are delivered in line with agreed KPIs
  • Acting on behalf of vendors to ensure vehicles are prepped pre-sale, vehicles are imaged lines are walked, pre & post sale reports are delivered and any other vendor related SLA is achieved in a timely manner to encourage strong vendor relationships
  • Carry out appraisals and 1-2-1's for direct reports and liaise with HR to ensure whole branch completion
  • Using previous experience to regularly identify efficiencies and ideas to the wider team across the business, from yard to office and beyond
  • Ensure site compliance, H&S and procedures are all in place and maintained with the wider brand operations team
  • Drive the EVA credentials both internally and externally, ensuring all requirements are maintained
