What is the role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced HVAC Engineer to join our team on our project at the Aldermaston nuclear facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating detailed documentation, reporting changes to facility and equipment, and ensuring the HVAC systems meet the stringent requirements of the nuclear industry. In this role, the applicant will be involved with the review, reporting, and repair details of a well-established storage and testing facility. This includes conducting inspections, maintaining accurate records of system performance, and detailing necessary repairs to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with industry standards. The HVAC Engineer will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of the facility, contributing to the integrity and reliability of the HVAC systems that support our operations.

The role is a contract role with a duration 6 months + Inside IR35. The role can be performed remotely with site and office visits as required.

What you will do
  • Lead HVAC-related projects, including upgrades, installations, and modifications.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Ensure all HVAC operations adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations specific to the nuclear industry.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for HVAC systems, including design specifications, maintenance schedules, and operational protocols.
  • Report and document any changes or updates to HVAC systems, ensuring all records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Prepare detailed reports on system performance, incidents, and maintenance activities.
What you will need
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience in HVAC engineering, preferably within the nuclear or similar high-regulation industry.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is preferred.
  • Proven experience in creating technical documentation and reporting.
  • Certification in HVAC systems and controls is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC system design, installation, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with nuclear industry regulations and safety standards.
  • Proficiency in HVAC software tools and CAD (Computer-Aided Design).
