JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Technical Advisor within NOV's Aftermarket Technical Equipment Support Services (TESS) team, you will be responsible for provision of Drill Floor Equipment Onshore/ Offshore remote technical support to the global NOV customer base as well as internal NOV groups. This will include, but not be limited to - receiving, analysing, troubleshooting and providing detailed feedback to resolve client technical issues. A strong foundation to your success in this role will be your ability to interpret engineering drawings/schematics, and systematically fault find NOV drilling equipment issues.

Provide key support and guidance to NOV field personnel within the global Service group for drill floor equipment. Provide required technical content, as well as review and process inspection reporting documentation, for industry required service and maintenance scopes.

Provide technical input and feedback to responsible product engineering teams for equipment performance and reliability related to design, maintenance or operations to optimize efficiency.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical guidance to field personnel within the Service group.
  • Providing onshore support to our Customers and Service Department relating to products and services.
  • Responsible for ensuring data in tracking system is accurate and up to date.
  • Receive, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve client technical issues.
  • Prepare reports with damage assessments and recommended corrective / maintenance action based on customer provided information and data retrieved from the NOV logging or monitoring systems.
  • Provide technical content support for formal feedback to Product Engineering of global product or component performance and reliability related to design, maintenance, or operations.
  • Support product notification (PN) review (PIB, PIN, etc.); support PN planning for release.
  • Support / supervise implementation; perform tracking and reporting function.
  • Interface with Customers and internally with the Sales, Engineering, Workshops, and Rentals Departments.
  • Ensure job documentation is processed in a timely manner and ensure prompt and satisfactory job closure.
  • Serve as technical escalation point for Tier 2 subject matter experts, provide advanced analysis and offer resolutions for most challenging issues.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned by COE Technical Leader.


QUALIFICATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.


EXPERIENCE

  • Industry relevant work experience- Field Service, I&C, Technical Support, Field Engineer.
  • Ability to cooperate with multinational team across all time zones.
  • Able to read, with mastery, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic drawings.
  • Able to technically support a multitude of diverse issues across technical disciplines.


SKILLS, TRAINING OR SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Must be able to independently resolve a wide variety of technical issues by using current job knowledge, individual research, and external & Internal resources.
  • Possess strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and be a team player.
  • Be able to manage multiple cases at one time and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Skilled in technical analysis and report writing.
  • Able to read mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic drawings at expert level.
  • MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Deep knowledge in one of more technical disciplines: mechanical, hydraulic, or controls, as well as deep understanding related to design, operations, and maintenance of specific families of NOV Rig Systems equipment.
