As a Mechanical Technical Operations Manager at NOV, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and enhancing the technical support services offered by our Aftermarket Technical Equipment Support Services (TESS) team. Your responsibilities will encompass managing and coordinating the efforts of the Technical Support Staff, which includes aspects such as training, employee development, and recruitment decisions. A continuous assessment of departmental processes and methods will be essential to ensure efficiency and relevance in our operations. Additionally, you will engage in financial planning and forecasting for the department.
Your success in this position will be significantly influenced by your capability to interpret engineering schematics and effectively troubleshoot NOV equipment. You will provide essential support and direction for complex inquiries within the department, facilitating strategic resolutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise Mechanical and Hydraulic Technical Leads to support TESS COE Groups 1, 4, & 5.
- Continuously enhance the global technical team to ensure top-tier technical service delivery.
- Design and oversee targeted training and development initiatives for Tier 2 Technical Leads and Technical Advisors.
- Manage departmental budgets and financial expenditures.
- Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and resource collaboration within the team.
- Assist the team in resolving diverse technical challenges through current knowledge, independent research, and external resources.
- Support product notification reviews and planning for releases.
- Authorize the release of reports detailing damage assessments and recommended corrective actions based on customer feedback and field service data.
- Ensure consistent coverage for the team, including during absences due to vacation or illness.
- Collaborate with internal and external experts to facilitate the resolution of complex issues, ensuring we deliver exceptional service to our customers.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience.
- Proven experience in a technical or operational management role, ideally with a background in leading a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience with profit and loss accountability and proficiency in financial analysis and forecasting.
- Ability to independently address a wide range of technical issues using job knowledge, research, and external resources.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Capacity to work autonomously while also being an effective team player.
- Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent team-building, training, and leadership capabilities with a knack for motivating and influencing others.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, process management, and reporting skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in writing technical reports.
- Expertise in reading mechanical and hydraulic schematics.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems, including design, operations, and maintenance of specific NOV Rig Systems equipment.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
