POSITION SUMMARY

The Mechanical Technical Leadership Manager is a pivotal role within NOV's Aftermarket Technical Equipment Support Services (TESS) division. In this capacity, you will oversee, coordinate, and enhance the technical support offerings provided by NOV. Your responsibilities will encompass managing the Technical Support Staff, which includes aspects such as training, employee development, and recruitment decisions. Regularly assess and refine departmental processes and methodologies to ensure they remain current and efficient. Engage in financial planning and forecasting for the department.

Your success in this position will be significantly influenced by your ability to interpret engineering schematics and effectively troubleshoot NOV equipment. You will provide essential support and guidance for complex inquiries within the department, aiming for strategic resolutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise Mechanical/Hydraulic Technical Leads to support TESS COE Groups 1, 4, & 5.
  • Continuously enhance the global technical team to ensure the delivery of superior technical services.
  • Design and oversee targeted training and development initiatives for Tier 2 Technical Leads and Technical Advisors.
  • Manage budgetary allocations and expenditures effectively.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration among team members to elevate product understanding.
  • Assist the team in resolving a diverse range of technical challenges using current knowledge, independent research, and external resources.
  • Facilitate product notification reviews and support planning for releases.
  • Authorize the release of reports that include damage assessments and recommended corrective actions based on customer feedback and field service data.
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage at all times, including during vacations and absences.
  • Collaborate with internal and external experts to assist in resolving complex issues, while working with other business lines to uphold our commitment to exceptional service.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
EXPERIENCE
  • Proven experience in a technical or operational management role, ideally with a background in managing a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience with profit and loss accountability within an operational context, along with proficiency in financial analysis and forecasting.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Ability to independently resolve a wide array of technical issues using current knowledge, personal research, and external resources.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Capacity to work autonomously while also being an effective team player.
  • Adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, potentially high-pressure environment.
  • Exceptional team-building, training, and leadership abilities with a knack for motivating and influencing others.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, process management, and reporting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in drafting technical reports.
  • Expertise in reading mechanical and hydraulic schematics.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems, along with a comprehensive understanding of the design, operation, and maintenance of specific NOV Rig Systems equipment.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
