You will be working alongside a diverse team as our Directorate consists of Civil Servants, military colleagues and contractors, working closely to deliver the Army�s Modernisation Agenda ensuring the successful delivery of the programme through each of its critical stages.

The British Army is on a ten-year, �42 billion, equipment and infrastructure modernisation journey to build a more lethal force that is built to war fight, expert in operating globally and a leader in NATO.

This role is at the heart of supporting this modernisation agenda and key to the success of the �2bn major programme that is building Challenger 3, the Army�s next generation Main Battle Tank, which was recently presented to the world by the Secretary of State for Defence.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.�

Job description

This is an exciting time to join the Directorate as we are looking for a Programme Scheduler with excellent communication skills and experience of working in a Portfolio, Programme & Project (P3M) environment.

This role requires the ability to react quickly and calmly to changing and exciting circumstances and think creatively to support the delivery of the programme

The successful candidate will engage with key stakeholders across the organisation, fostering continuous improvement throughout the Programme. This post provides the opportunity to develop professional skills and experience, with future opportunities to promote and progress within a developing P3M profession for both the Army TLB and wider Defence.

Main responsibilities include:

Creating, updating and maintenance of programme plans and schedules.Tracking delivery and reporting progress to programme governance boards.Assurance and interrogation of lower-level schedules on behalf of the PMO.Supporting the Senior Leadership team to make informed and timely decisions.

This post offers significant opportunity to be part of a critically important set of programmes, developing deeper understanding of Army capabilities and shaping their delivery. You will gain key programme experience and exposure to Army equipment and able to join wider activities including Battlefield Tours, professional communities of practice and visit opportunities to Army sites.

We will be looking to utilise a reserve list from this campaign. This means that high-calibre candidates will be contacted after the interview process to discuss similar opportunities in Army Programmes without the need to re-interview.

We are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual to proactively manage all aspects of the Challenger 3 Programme�s schedule.

The successful candidate will;

Develop plans and schedules within a large complex programme.Provide advice, guidance and best practice to senior managers on programme planning and scheduling based on high-quality data analysis.Be inquisitive and take proactive steps to link up with different business areas to maximise the benefit of scheduling management,Be an organised individual who keeps a forward look of their work and horizon scans.Communicate effectively, with the ability to challenge the status quo, providing views in a collaborative way to achieve maximum value for money.

Desirable Experience�

Experience of large Infrastructure or capability delivery programmes.
