The Opportunity

Project: We are hiring an ambitious and forward-thinking Operations Director MEP Estimating to join our established and growing team in London within our Construct Sector, working across all Business Units.

Responsible for leading the delivery of MEP Estimating to deliver key strategic outcomes and KPIs to ensure a consistent and professional approach to work winning, to ensure that governance is followed and to represent the estimating team at a functional level with senior directors and Business unit leads.

Set standards, policies and procedures and drive and embed the service across Engine and markets the service across consult engine.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manages team/s, demonstrating effective leadership to ensure excellence in delivery against plans, championing a continuous improvement culture throughout all activities.
  • Delivering performance management, technical development, direction and coaching.
  • Provides peer review on appropriate estimates to ensure good governance and manage risk
  • Networks internally and externally and bring the knowledge back in to the estimating function
  • Presents the MEP estimate to key stakeholders demonstrating a full knowledge and understanding of the project
  • Influences strategic development and executes strategies for work winning
  • Manages and where relevant present key benchmarking data in support of the bids
  • Provides thought leadership and comprehensive working knowledge of market and what is the "market rate". Maintain knowledge of market intelligence and pricing trends
  • Leads the implementation of a systematic performance improvement cycle to continually improve the quality of (i.e. area).
  • Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

Key Job Dimensions

  • Working knowledge of estimating systems including measurement software.
  • Champions data and analytics to drive better estimating.
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong numerical skills and ability to present commercial information confidently.
  • Ability to present information clearly.
  • Understanding of Power BI or similar.
  • Good network within the industry.
  • Sector market knowledge.

Industry experience and/or qualifications

  • Understanding & Knowledge of the sector.
  • Working level knowledge of contract forms.
  • Good technical construction knowledge and statutory requirements.
  • Understanding of BCIS and other industry indices.
  • Familiar with government guidance on business case development.

Further Qualifications, Certifications & Experience

  • Relevant Degree (or Equivalent).
  • Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) (or equivalent).
  • Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) (or equivalent).
