About The Role
The Department of Computer Science in the Faculty of Science and Engineering is seeking applications from ambitious and talented individuals to join our academic team as a Lecturer. The successful candidate will have an excellent track record and potential in Human-Computer Interaction with a specific focus on Artificial Intelligence.
This is a 4.5 year Fixed Term post aligned to Professor Matt Jones' EPSRC Fellowship on interactive AI. The successful applicant will be able to benefit from, and contribute to, this adventurous programme to create a novel interactive AI paradigm. Applicants will also be expected to be committed to innovative teaching, to care about the student experience, and to be able to contribute to the development of a modern curriculum supported by laboratory based practical and project-based learning.
The Computer Science Department at Swansea University is ranked highly for both teaching and research: The Guardian University Guide 2023 placed it 25th in the UK and 1st in Wales. The department is home to eight research groups: Artificial Intelligence; Cyber Security; Education, History and Philosophy; Human Computer Interaction; Intelligent Robotics; Railway Verification; Theoretical Computer Science; and Visual Computing. The Computer Science Department is ranked among the world's top institutions in the 2023 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject. The department is based in the Computational Foundry, a world-class research facility that includes dedicated labs for robotics, AI, fabrication and usability studies.

Welsh Language Skills
The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 1 - A little. The role holder will be able to pronounce Welsh words, answer the phone in Welsh (good morning/afternoon) and use very basic everyday words and phrases (thank you, please etc.). Level 1 can be reached by completing a 1 hour course.
