Salary: Band 6, £26,073 to £29,777 per annum pro rata for part time

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Part time (22 to 29 hours per week). There is significant flexibility around working pattern e.g. the post could be taken term time only or part time working year-round. The post holder will be required to come into the Civic Offices in Portsmouth one day each week (2 days if working 29 hours per week).

The Service:

Portsmouth City Council provides a wide range of services to local schools and Academies, from building maintenance to careers guidance and all things in between Last year schools purchased over £3.5m of services all via the Portsmouth traded services website ( ). Located within the Education Directorate, the Education Business and Partnerships Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the council's traded work with schools continue to run smoothly.

Your New Role:

You will provide effective business support for the practical arrangements underpinning the trading of professional services in the education marketplace. You will upload information about service offers to the Traded Services website. You will act as a 'Super User' for this website, providing support by email and telephone to school and council colleagues, offering advice and guidance to customers. You will also work closely with finance to ensure that services are correctly charged for raising credit memos, amending orders, and managing the purchasing and ordering processes in general.

What you'll need to succeed:

You have substantial experience in a higher-level administrative role. You have excellent communication skills and can deliver a good standard of customer service. You are accurate, have excellent IT skills, and can interpret information and complex data sets drawing clear and logical conclusions to inform confident decision making. You have excellent literacy and numeracy skills, and can work well on your own or in a team. You are organised and can work to tight deadlines, prioritising your workload and thinking ahead. You have experience in managing financial transactions, and have awareness of confidentiality, Data Protection and Safeguarding requirements.
