Support worker for children:

Have you got experience working with children or adults who have special educational needs?

Monarch Education are working closely with a Special Educational Needs school in Walsall. This a full-time role (Mon-Fri) 8:30-3:30pm, term time only. However, the school may accept part-time hours for the right candidate. We are looking for somebody with experience working as a Support worker, or perhaps in a care setting previously. The school will accept those with less experience, but an education related degree.

The Role:

As a Support Worker you will be required to work with Secondary age pupils providing support academically, socially and emotionally throughout the school day. The pupils have a variety of complex needs as well as some pupils requiring physical and personal support. You will be required to work on a 1:1 basis with some pupils, and in small groups with others. You may be required to work outside and attend school trips with pupils.

The ideal candidate:

  • Will be passionate about caring for young people
  • Have experience working with children or young adults with SEMH needs
  • Confident in building positive relationships with both children and staff
  • Is professional, calm and understanding with a nurturing manner
  • Will have experience using different behaviour management strategies
  • Is positive, a forward thinker and able to work well within a team
