Job Overview:

The Nephrology and Transplant Directorate delivers care to patients with renal disease in South East Wales. The directorate comprises of a 20 bedded specialist Cardiff Transplant Unit on T5 and a 27 bedded nephrology ward on B5. There is also a renal outpatients department incorporating IV therapies and a dedicated dialysis unit, David Thomas Unit which has undergone a complete refurbishment.

The post will include a planned rotation programme throughout all clinical areas, including the Home Dialysis unit, with the opportunity to complete a Degree or Masters level module in Renal Nursing.

There is a wide range of clinical skills and developmental opportunities available which are supported by a Practice Development Nurse Team.

Main Duties Of The Job:

  • To be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without direction and supervision.
  • Demonstrate and supervise practice and procedures to registered and unregistered nursing staff to secure effective nursing practice.
  • To take a key role in the induction and mentorship of new and unregistered staff, and provide supervision.
  • There is a wide range of clinical skills and developmental opportunities available which are supported by a Practice Development Nurse Team.
  • Consideration will be given to the clinical area that you wish to be based in when you apply.
  • Shift Pattern: You will be able to work an Early/Late or 3 x Long days, nights are 12 hour shift. The posts are permanent.
