Position Overview

The Therapeutic Apheresis Services (TAS) represents a premier patient-centered initiative within NHS Blood and Transplant, recognized for its excellence and commitment to patient care. In this role, you will be an integral part of a dedicated team, delivering critical treatments to patients throughout the region.

As a nurse within TAS, you will experience a dynamic work environment where each day presents unique challenges and opportunities. Our Therapeutic Apheresis Units are situated within large NHS Trusts, allowing our nursing staff to benefit from the extensive resources and facilities available through both NHS Blood and Transplant and the host Trust.

Key Responsibilities

In this position, you will oversee the assessment, planning, and execution of apheresis procedures for both urgent and scheduled patients and donors, participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation. Your duties will encompass:

  • Conducting therapeutic apheresis and cell collection procedures for both pediatric and adult populations.
  • Developing nursing care plans for patients and donors, ensuring comprehensive clinical care and providing guidance as needed.
  • Delivering safe and compassionate care within a quality management framework, adhering to clinical standards and best practices.
  • Maintaining nursing practice standards in compliance with local regulations, licenses, and laws.
  • Establishing effective communication with key stakeholders to support patient-centered care and uphold quality and safety standards.
  • Offering clinical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and nursing students, serving as a resource of clinical expertise.
