Cardiff, Cardiff, United Kingdom Public Health Wales Full time

These are exciting opportunities for individuals who enjoy developing innovative ways to make better use of data for the improvement of health and social care organisations throughout Wales.

This is an opportunity for role in the new Quality, Safety and Improvement directorate of the NHS Wales Executive, to be part of our team at a busy and exciting time as we step-up our support to help NHS Wales improve care for the people of Wales.

Together, we work alongside organisations to empower, embed and elevate improvements to quality and safety, delivering all-Wales improvement programmes to achieve quality and safety priorities.

Main duties of the job

Data and information underpins all of our programmes of work throughout the lifecycle of learning, testing and scale and spread; from understanding the current situation, to using evidence to identify specific areas for improvement, to monitoring progress through tests of change and helping scale and spread the change intervention.

To do this successfully, we need to be rigorous and employ effective analytical techniques to deliver unambiguous and robust insight of a complex health and social care system.

We are looking for an individual to provide thought leadership and technical excellence to a small team of analysts in all aspects of the development of innovative analytical solutions.

The post will utilise operational analysis, mathematical modelling and/or systems thinking, to draw insight and use visually compelling techniques to communicate complex information to busy, non-analytical audiences.

Working with autonomously the post holder will be required to guide and supervise small groups of analysts for discrete analytical tasks and projects, as well as provide some guidance and training to wider audiences in good measurement practices.

This analysis could be pertaining to any of our programmes, such as unscheduled care, maternity services, cancer services, or mental health services, which lends itself to a varied and exciting role.

Working for our organisation

The NHS Executive works in partnership for and on behalf of Welsh Government, in and with the NHS in Wales and is hosted by Public Health Wales.

Our key purpose is to drive improvements in the quality and safety of care - resulting in better and more equitable outcomes, access and patient experience, reduced variation, and improvements in population health.

We do this by providing strong leadership and strategic direction – enabling, supporting, and directing NHS Wales to transform clinical services in line with national priorities and standards.
