SEN Support Worker / PA in Swansea, SA10. Come and join Team Zach , a professional team of complex care support workers providing support to a cheeky chap with love for music, sensory play, and swimming Up to GBP16.05 Gross per Hour.

Location: Skewen, Swansea, SA10.
Wage/Salary: GBP13.48 Weekdays, GBP14.48 Weeknights, GBP GBP15.05 Weekend days, GBP GBP16.05, Weekend Nights. GBP20.00 daily retainer when Zach is at school. Minimum earning potential: GBP26, All figures quoted in Gross.
Driver Essential? Yes, confident driving a WAV (automatic drive)
Essential: Some experience supporting a client with a physical disability in a professional setting or personal capacity, excellent communication skills including written and spoken English. Confident supporting a client during hydrotherapy / swimming. Willing to work towards or currently registered with Social Care Wales.
Desirable: Experience with Eye Gaze, PEG feeding, Rebound Therapy, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy.
Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Rolling rota provided 4 weeks in advance, includes a mixture of day and night shifts, out of school hours. Day shifts start at 7.30am, and night shifts, 7.30pm to 7.30am.

About this client/child: Zach is soon to be 14 years old, and lives at home with his Mum, Step Dad, twin sisters (6) and older brother. He is the very heart of a loving and supportive family and has a dedicated team of SEN Support Workers / PA providing round the clock care that consists of 2:1 support during the day, and 1:1 waking night care. Zach loves swimming in his pool, listening to music and stories, sensory play and being outdoors; no matter the weather, he will always want to go out for a walk. His All-Terrain wheelchair is arriving soon; there will be no stopping his outdoor adventures. Zach has Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy (VNS in situ), Global Development Delay, Dystonia, Osteopenia, and is registered blind. He receives his medication via a PEG and enjoys a soft/blended diet orally he absolutely loves his food He uses his body language, facial expressions and sounds to support his communication and his family are currently looking at options to further enhance his communication skills. At school he sometimes uses Eye Gaze. Zach s family home is fully adapted to meet all his needs, including ceiling track hoists.

Overview of role: Zach s SEN Support Worker will continually promote his independence, advocate for him, and enable him to access the world around him and participate in all aspects of family, and daily life. Zach is dependent on others to meet all his health, care, medical needs, and his ADLs. During the day you will work alongside a team member, supporting Zach to get ready for school, in the afternoon, assisting with therapy, or extra-curricular activities he has a busy schedule During a waking night shift, Zach likes to have his own space, and a video monitor is in place to alert you as and when he requires support. A staff room with kitchenette is provided. Weekends and School Holidays there is lots of scope to plan activities and arrange trips. The rota is provided in 4 weeks advance and will consist of a mixture of day and night shifts. When Zach is at school, and if you are on shift you are paid a GBP20.00 retainer in addition to the day rate.

Who this job would suit: An outgoing, motivated, proactive, and intuitive and respectful SEN Support Worker / PA. Experience in complex care is not essential, all training is provided the most important thing is a genuine passion and interest in supporting a young person to reach their full potential.
