We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual, with extensive professional experience and expertise in the conduct of complex investigations, to make a significant contribution to the University's response in the area of student conduct.

The post holder will lead and conduct investigations into allegations of student behaviour across a number of University Policies including Student Complaints, allegations of student misconduct, Fitness to Practise, Fitness to Study, Student Disciplinary, Academic Appeals and Academic Misconduct. As part of the Student Conduct, Complaints and Appeals Team (SCCA) you will support the delivery of a responsive service to students by ensuring that investigations are conducted fairly, consistently, and with sensitivity. Additionally, identifying and appropriately addressing risks in a timely fashion is an essential part of the post

The postholder will use specialist knowledge and skills to support awareness and training in relation to key issues, working within the Student Conduct and Complaints Team (SCCA) to monitor and analyse casework trends and themes, and feed into continuous improvement. The post will also support the SCCA Manager with statutory reporting and case work.

About You

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proven experience in the drafting of detailed, professional investigation and case work reports that are capable of withstanding scrutiny and potential challenge.

You will work collaboratively with managers and case workers and, liaise with a wide range of contacts including colleagues at all levels, students, their representatives and external bodies (such as the police) where appropriate.

You will have excellent presentation skills, ensuring cases are clearly detailed to Student Discipline Panels and hearings.

As this post involves highly sensitive and confidential information, you will have an excellent understanding of the handling of such information appropriately and in line with good practice and legal requirements.

You will have an awareness of and active engagement with the need for diversity and inclusion, and exercise a high degree of initiative, and professional judgement at all times.

Qualifications

Essential;

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent education experience.
  • Qualifications/training/relevant experience in conducting investigations, mediation, equality, diversity and inclusion issues.
