Role Overview:

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Mental Health Support Specialist to become part of our team on a part-time basis. This role presents a valuable opportunity to positively impact the lives of our students by providing essential therapeutic support within our educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the psychologist and headteacher to deliver therapeutic interventions to students, both on-site and through outreach initiatives.
  • Implement low-level psychological strategies and consultations, adhering to a clinically led consultation model.
  • Work closely with operational staff, including educators, SENCO, Pastoral Coordinator, and the Head Teacher.
  • Organize therapy and social groups as well as individual sessions within the school and outreach settings.
  • Design and prepare therapy groups in partnership with the psychologist and headteacher.
  • Plan and oversee Emotional Literacy sessions for all students, working in conjunction with teaching staff.
  • Conduct informal observations of students during lessons and assist in developing strategies to support their integration, behavior, and emotional literacy.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records under the supervision of the psychologist and headteacher.
  • Provide training for staff on mental health topics and related behaviors.
  • Engage in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) as required, attending all necessary training sessions.
  • Ensure that students are empowered to reach their full potential and develop into successful adults.

General Responsibilities:

  • Attend work consistently and punctually, adapting to a flexible work schedule as needed.
  • Familiarize yourself with and adhere to Cambian Group policies and procedures.
  • Remain vigilant in safeguarding individuals from abuse and report any incidents promptly.
  • Participate in performance evaluations and appraisal processes.
  • Receive regular clinical supervision from the psychologist.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding personal information.
  • Promote equal opportunities and respect for individual differences.
  • Contribute to effective teamwork and foster positive relationships.
  • Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities that align with the role's objectives.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining a safe and secure learning environment by proactively identifying and addressing potential hazards.
  • Take measures to ensure the physical safety of students, staff, and visitors within the school.
  • Participate in regular safety inspections and comply with safety protocols.
  • Report any safety concerns or incidents to the appropriate authorities without delay.
  • Act promptly in emergencies to safeguard the well-being of individuals within the school community.
  • Stay informed about health and safety regulations, implementing best practices to minimize risks.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Commit to safeguarding by fostering a culture of vigilance and accountability within the school.
  • Take immediate action to protect individuals from all forms of abuse.
  • Report any incidents or suspicions of abuse to the designated safeguarding lead or relevant authorities.
  • Fully cooperate with safeguarding investigations, providing accurate information and support as necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality while prioritizing the safety and well-being of individuals involved in safeguarding concerns.
  • Stay updated on safeguarding policies and participate in training to enhance safeguarding knowledge and skills.
  • Create an inclusive environment where individuals feel safe to disclose safeguarding concerns and receive appropriate support.

By fulfilling these Health and Safety and Safeguarding responsibilities, the Mental Health Support Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of students and staff at Cambian Northampton School.
